This piece is handwoven by the Tuareg people, the oldest nomadic groups in Northern Africa. The women utilize only convenient materials such as palms, reeds, and goat and camel leather. Once the base is complete, they use strands of leather to adorn mats with powerful symbols, each is one-of-a-kind an tells a unique story from the artisan.
